In March 2019, The Durham Public Schools Foundation funded 19 educational projects across Durham. I got to catch up with one of the recipients, Scholar Academy for Latinxs United for Diversity (SALUD). Alex Villeda and Dr. Gaby Nagy explained how SALUD came about and its relevance for the Durham community.
In 2018, a community-led effort partnered with Durham Public Schools to transform them for success and equity for every student. They aim to catalyze big ideas and foster community engagement with Durham’s Public Schools. Magan Gonzales-Smith, Executive Director of Durham Public Schools Foundation, shared how the DPS Foundation came to be and how they plan to transform public education in Durham.
I coordinated, produced, and edited videos for Join the Conquest, a community of volunteers and researchers working together to improve human health, as well as a place to learn about clinical research.
I coordinated, produced, and edited videos for the Graduate School highlighting graduate students’ academic efforts. These were included in the online newsletter.
